2025 CSW Final Report

Delegation Information 

March 10-21, 2025

Mareyba Fawad (Head Delegate), Sarah Dehbi (Communications Coordinator), Loretta Jeff-Combs (Engagement Coordinator), and Mabintou Ouattara (EDI Coordinator) attended the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW69) on behalf of Young Diplomats of Canada.

Key Insights and Lessons Learned

  • Engaged in high-level meetings with Canadian senators, parliamentarians, UN officials, and Ambassador Bob Rae, who also serves as President of ECOSOC.

  • Participated in daily briefings with the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations.

  • Hosted two official UN parallel events focused on Indigenous justice and intersectional feminist analysis, both of which were well-attended and highly praised.

  • Delivered multiple speaking engagements, including: opening remarks at a parallel event, opening remarks at UNGA, oral statement at UN, and being a panelist at a parallel event. (Note: Both statements given at the UN were live-streamed globally)

  • Developed a national youth survey to guide advocacy, ensuring the delegation’s messages reflected diverse Canadian youth perspectives.
