Sydney Whiting (she/her) is in her final semester of a BA (Hons) in Political Science at the University of Lethbridge. She has worked in a range of advocacy and research roles, including as the co-founder of the former Climate Hub of Southern Alberta, a climate action non-profit committed to the promotion of green energy solutions, and at the Campus Collective Centre, a student organization committed to social justice and gender equality.
Recently, Sydney worked at the Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy, a research centre focused on public policy and community development. Sydney is also a two-time YDC alumni, having served as a delegate and the Communications Coordinator for both the Y7 delegation to Japan in 2023 (as the ‘Climate and Environment’ and “Youth, Peace, and Security’ representative) and the UN CSW66 delegation in 2022. For her advocacy work, Sydney was recognized as an ACGC 2024 recipient of the Top 30 Under 30 award.
Sydney brings her experience in community organizing, research and communications, and climate advocacy to her new role as a Programs Coordinator with the Young Diplomats of Canada. She is super excited to be joining the team!
